Italian Turkey Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

Note:  These juicy meatballs are so delicious, the platter will be cleared in no time.  You can bring them to any social event with confidence that they will be loved and enjoyed.

Ingredients:

  • 1 recipe Rosalie's Marinara Sauce
  • 1 pound white ground turkey
  • 1 to 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh curly parsley, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Parmesan cheese garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the marinara sauce as directed; set aside. (recipe can be found on this website)
  2. Place turkey meat in medium bowl.  Add the garlic, bread crumbs, cheese, parsley, eggs, fennel seed, salt, and pepper.  Mix the turkey and ingredients together; make into 2-inch balls.
  3. Fry the balls in olive oil over medium heat to partially done, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.  Transfer meatballs to the marinara sauce to complete cooking, about another 8 minutes.
  4. Place meatballs in bowl, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.  Place toothpick in meatball, and serve on crusted small slices of Italian bread.  Dip additional marinara sauce over meatballs, if desired.  Makes 12 to  15 meatballs.
