Happy September

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Wow guys, here we are in the second week of September, and Christmas is looming right around the corner. I can still see last year’s Christmas lights hanging on the back porch pillars. Bill said they looked good since they were all white, so he left them up. Well, if that’s his reasoning, I just told him to leave the roof lights up next year as well, what can it hurt? People drive by our house anyway expecting to see something unusual and we, being the accommodating folks, love to please. I actually did most all of my Christmas shopping over the Labor Day weekend, since there were so many specials. If this keeps up, I may even go on vacation during the Christmas holidays. Funny though, how all of my intentions take a nose dive the first day of December.

But I must get to the point of my newsletter. September 4th was Bill’s birthday, and of course it always falls close to Labor Day. He says that’s because his mom had the labor and he had the birth. In any case he informs me that he is going to celebrate his birthday for the whole month of September and I informed him that I ‘wasn’t’. Some people call us the resurrected “Honeymooners.”

But since I like to cook, and he likes to eat, I did make him a fantastic Italian dinner, which included my Garlic Cheese Mashed Potatoes with Chives. I had been wanting to try them, so I make them right on the spot today while making the video for my newsletter. I did have to make a few changes, so when you watch the video, keep to the actual recipe. I also made my mother’s absolutely wonderful Italian Breaded Pork Chops. When paired with the garlic mashed potatoes, one could eat themselves silly.

You all realize that I am 100% Italian, and of course Bill is 100 pounds Italian. So when I made this mouth-watering dish, he informed me he could only have a bite of the mashed potatoes. He’s been on a strict diet the last few weeks, and has been living on chocolate protein shakes. There was only one thing left to do. I had to eat two of the pork chops. Oh, well, you know what they always say…”It’s the thought that counts.”

Happy September everybody, and the next time you see Bill, he may not be there…just kidding. Please, please, try these fantastic pork chops, they literally melt in your mouth.

Love, Rosalie
