Day 3 North Carolina Bus Tour

A red sign with white lettering on it.The North Carolina Bus Tour continues, and we are now on Day 3. We stayed at the very modern “millennial” hotel in Asheville called TRU. We started the day with great hot breakfast and our daily devotion. Next, we visited Grandfather Mountain, which towers 5, 946 feet above northwest North Carolina. Named after the face of an old man spotted in one of the cliffs, we saw bears, elk and eagles. We crossed the famous swinging bridge and the view was breathtaking. After lunch, we drove to the famous Linville Falls. I hiked with many of our bus friends to 1.6 miles and climbed 57 stone steps to get to the Falls. The Smokey mountains were so beautiful.

Day 4. Bill and I up early today. We had an awesome hotel breakfast with cheese-filled eggs and all trimmings. Boarding the bus and having devotion got us all set for the day. As we drive through the beautiful Smoky Mountains, I am reminded of the grandeur of God. Now on our way to the Billy Graham Gardens and Library.

Nothing had prepared me for the beautiful Billy Graham Gardens and the tour of his life, his Boyhood Home, and The Journey of Faith tour was amazing. We all had many tears listening to this humble man preach the gospel. Billy Graham preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to some 215 million people who attended one of his more than 400 Crusades, simulcasts and evangelistic rallies in more than 185 countries and territories. The videos we saw of the many crusades and rallies, caused many to cry, just as we saw millions of people shed tears as he preached to them God’s love. Truly, Billy Graham was the evangelist of the world.

After lunch, we visited the memorial of President Polk, the 11th president of the US. His homeland in Charlotte, North Carolina, was dedicated to his legacy. I can’t say I ever studied the work of this president, but we were all very enlightened at the amount of progress he made in his short 4 years. Texas, California, Oregon, New Mexico, Florida, Iowa and Wisconsin were the states he admitted, and all peacefully. He truly expanded the US. It was a great Day 4 in the North Carolina Bus Tour.
