Consider the Begonia

Angel Wing Begonia

If you love flowers you have to consider the angel wing begonia. It is one of the easiest plants to grow, provided you have them in a part shade, part sun location. I plant them in big flower pots, and display them on my porch. Since they are not out in a flower bed, there are no weeds to constantly worry about. The porch makes a perfect setting with just enough afternoon sun to keep them from wilting.

My husband, Bill, who does all the mowing and weed-eating told me that if I planted one more flower bed that there would be serious repercussions. I’m not sure what he can do, seeing that I cook all of his meals, wash his clothes, pick up his clothes, fold his clothes, and meet his every need. Well, almost all of his needs. I am not the sport fanatic he is, and do crab occasionally about his love for football, baseball, soccer, boxing, swimming, and on and on.

But, as all of you know, I must have a fresh-cut vase of flowers on the table at any given time. Ideally, with some scent. I figure, since flowers are a God-thing, and sports is a man-thing, surly he can’t complain for me wanting to gain credit with God. After all, flowers make the world a much prettier place. So, I think I’ll make Bill his favorite meal….Italian Meatballs in Marinara Sauce over Penne. Hopefully this will appease him, until I ask him to spray the roses.

Don’t forget the begonias!
